Trans Lobby Group Statement on Pride Toronto Weekend
The Trans Lobby Group will be Marching with the Official Pride Toronto Trans March, Dyke March, & Pride Parade as the Honoured Dyke March Group 2011. We recognize that Pride Toronto has many outstanding challenges, yet we also appreciate several recent advances in recent months to overcome these challenges. In the area of Trans Inclusion we acknowledge the creation of the Trans March, recruitment of Trans Coordinators, & the formation of a Trans March Committee.
We accept the role of Honoured Dyke March Group in the understanding that success in advancing trans issues is built upon strong community partnerships with supportive allies & organizations. Pride Toronto weekend is an opportunity to build stronger partnerships both externally with supporters & internally within trans communities.
The Trans Lobby Group marches with a fierce pride this weekend so that we gain the strength to overcome the significant challenges facing us next week and beyond.
